TV Series Highlights (until 2006 TV Highlights ) is the sister magazine of Moviestar and has been published since July 1997 as the revised successor to TeleVision magazine . It is a TV magazine that focuses on series and films from the genres of science fiction , action , horror and fantasy . In addition to the presentation of new series, episode guides for various TV series are published and films that are well worth seeing, which are broadcast on television, are listed in the form of short descriptions. Over the years, the DVD section has also been greatly expanded. In addition, various extra issues on special topics or series appear at irregular intervals.
The magazine was initially published 12 times a year, from 2010 9 times a year by MPW Verlag. The printed edition is 68,000 copies; 34,120 units were sold in the third quarter of 2004.
The previous magazine TeleVision was first launched in October 1995. Some elements of the new program guide were taken directly from the sister magazine Moviestar , which from 1993 onwards presented a selection of horror, science fiction and fantasy films on television in the form of short descriptions and also printed video covers for individual films. The bimonthly publication of the Moviestar had the disadvantage, however, that many broadcast dates could only be given imprecisely. B. would be sent towards the end of the second month. Therefore, MPW decided to publish its own monthly program magazine with a focus on series and feature films that belonged to the fantastic genre. Before TeleVision was officially launched in autumn 1995, the August issue of Moviestar was accompanied by a first test booklet.
With the renaming of TeleVision to TV Highlights , the proportion of feature film descriptions has been reduced significantly and has since been completely given up.
