Tobias "Toby" Genkel (* 1970 ) is a German film director .

After studying graphics and design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences , Genkel completed an internship at an animation company, where he came into contact with the medium of film. As a layout and background designer, he worked here from 1993 for films such as The Kleene Punker or Werner - Das muss kesseln !!! With. Later he also realized his own ideas for the animation series Nick and Perry or Karlsson vom Dach .

Genkel co-directed the motion picture Kommando Störtebeker for the first time, followed by his directorial debut in the television series Hotze .
