Tobacco Technical Center Hamburg

The Tabak Technikum Hamburg was founded on June 1st, 1956 by Kurt A. Körber in Hamburg-Bergedorf on the premises of Hauni Maschinenbau AG . The advanced training course for employees in the tobacco processing industry was introduced there in March 1957. One year later, the first engineering students began their studies in process engineering / tobacco technology. In view of the international orientation of the tobacco industry , English was introduced as a compulsory subject, and French and Spanish were offered as electives.

In 1959, Kurt A. Körber founded the Körber Foundation among other things out of the motivation "(to) provide a framework for the educational support started with the Tabak Technikum Hamburg ...".

The Tobacco Technikum Hamburg closed its doors on March 30, 1973, when the department of 'Production Technology, Process Engineering and Bioengineering' moved into the newly built Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in the Bergedorf district .
