Schmuggerow Church

The Schmuggerow Church is a 19th century church building in the Schmuggerow district of the Ducherow municipality in Western Pomerania .

The rectangular, brick-roofed brick hall in neo-Romanesque forms with a transverse rectangular west tower and south portal porch was inaugurated in 1889. The north, south and east walls are plastered over the base. On the east gable there are narrow plaster panels above a double tooth frieze and a large recessed cross at the top. In 1992 the eight-sided pointed spire of the tower was renewed with copper covering. The leaded glazing of the windows dates from 1993.

The interior has a raised wooden ceiling in the middle on ornate supports. To the south of the chancel is the former patron's box with a richly framed portal, which now houses the winter church. The chancel is separated from the side rooms by arched arches.

The furnishings include a pulpit from 1892 with carved quadruples and tracery on the basket and three patronage chairs from the 17th century. On the south wall is a baroque altarpiece, which was built in 1710 by order of Hans Jürgen von Köppern and his wife, née. von Lewetzow, made and painted in 1725. It has an image of the Last Supper, two carved apostle figures, a foundation inscription and the coats of arms of Köppern and von Lewetzow.

The stained glass in the east window from the period of construction shows the inviting Christ; it was restored in 1992 by Reinhard Kühl from Potthagen.

The only bell in the church comes from Demmin and was made in the 15th century.

The Protestant parish has been part of the Pasewalk provost in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Greifswald parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
