Tachpenes

According to 1 Kings 11: 19-20 EU, Tachpenes is  the wife of a pharaoh in the Old Testament .

etymology

The name Tachpenes ( Hebrew תַּחְפְּנֵיס, ancient Greek θεκεμινας Tekemimas ) is passed down as a personal name in the Old Testament only in 1 Kings 11: 19-20  EU . It is an Egyptian queen title, which means "the king's wife / consort".

From the name Tachpenes the place Tachpanhes (Hebrew תַּחְפַּנְחֵס Tachpanches ) is to be distinguished, which was located in the eastern Nile Delta and z. B. is mentioned in Jer 2,16  EU .

Mention in the Old Testament

1 Kings 11 tells of the Edomite prince Hadad, an opponent of Solomon who, after having to flee to Egypt, gained the favor of Pharaoh there. He therefore receives the sister of his wife Tachpenes from the Pharaoh as a wife. Their son Genubat is brought up by Tachpenes at the court of the Pharaoh.
