The tag RAM (2) stores the addresses of the data that are currently in the 2nd level cache.

The tag RAM is a special memory device (2) on the motherboard of a computer. It saves the addresses of the data that are in the 2nd level cache (3). This enables the CPU (1) to quickly check whether the required data is in the fast 2nd level cache or in the slower main memory .

It belongs to the memory grouping of the associative memory
