Tahşiyeciler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tahşiyeciler are an Islamic community (Turkish cemaat ) whose leader is the retired prayer leader Mehmet Doğan. This is also called "Molla Muhammet". Tahşiye means "footnote" or "note" and comes from the name of the group's publisher. The Tahşiyeciler are part of the Nurculuk movement and have or had their main focus in Southeast Anatolia . Between them and the Gülen movement , which is also part of the Nurculuk , there was a considerable dispute from 2009 onwards over the question of interreligious dialogue, which the Tahşiyecil rejected, and on the correct interpretation of Said Nursî's writings . In essence, however, it was about the rivalry between the two leaders.

In April 2009, the Tahşiyeciler were portrayed as a violence-prone organization on Samanyolu TV, close to Gülen . Gülen himself also referred to the Tahşiyeciler in videos as the “forces of evil” and placed them on a par with al-Qaeda and the Turkish Hezbollah .

The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation. In January 2010, objects were searched in 16 provinces and 132 people were arrested. 38 of them were given pre-trial detention. Allegedly hand grenades were seized. According to newspaper reports, only the fingerprints of police officers could be found on the evidence. Mehmet Doğan was released after 17 months in custody. The Turkish public perceived the executive measures as Gülen's work.

On December 14, 2014 , according to the official statement, the Turkish police arrested numerous people during an operation against the Tahşiyeciler, including Ekrem Dumanlı , editor-in-chief of Zaman and Hidayet Karaca , chairman of the board of Samanyolu A.Ş. Dumanlı's interrogations, however, revolved around the issue of Fethullah Gülen, and the fact that only media and people close to Gülen were affected led to the general assessment that the measures were directed against Gülen's influence.
