Tahar Tamsamani ( Arabic طاهر التمسماني, DMG Ṭāhir at-Tamsamānī ; * September 10, 1980 in Marrakech ) is a former Moroccan boxer . Tamsamani was a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games and 2003 African Champion. He was also a participant in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games .

Career

2000 Tamsami won the featherweight (-57 kg) the African Olympic qualification tournament in Cairo . At the following Olympic Games he reached the semifinals after victories over Park Heung Min, South Korea (21:14), and Israel Héctor Pérez, Argentina (21:18). He lost this against the eventual Olympic champion Beksat Sattarchanow , Kazakhstan (22:10).

At the African championships in 2003 Tamsamani won the gold medal in the lightweight (-60 kg). The following year he was able to qualify for the Olympic Games again, but this time he lost in the first fight against Sam Lukuando, Uganda (30:22).

After that, Tamsamani was quiet for a long time before he finished second in the 2007 Pan-Arab Games. The following year he qualified for the Olympic Games for the third time , but was eliminated in the first fight against Domenico Valentino , Italy (15: 4).
