The Tahtalı Dam ( Turkish Tahtalı Barajı ) is located south of the city of Menderes in the western Turkish province of İzmir .
The dam, built in 1986–1999, is located about 4 km from the coast of the Aegean Sea . It is mainly used to supply drinking water . The barrier structure is a stone embankment dam with a clay core . The dam height is 54.5 m above the valley floor and 58 m above the foundation floor. The dam volume is 3.4 million m³. The 23.5 km² reservoir has a storage space of 306.5 million m³.
