The city of Taixing ( Chinese  泰兴 市 , Pinyin Tàixīng Shì ) is an independent city in the district-free city of Taizhou in the Jiangsu Province of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​1256 km² and has 1,282,900 inhabitants (2004). The seat of government is the large municipality of Taixing ( 泰兴 镇 ).
