Michiyo Takagi ( Japanese 高木 美智 代 , Takagi Michiyo ; born September 13, 1952 in what will later become the city of Kitakyūshū , Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician of the Kōmeitō and a member of the Tokyo proportional representation in the House of Representatives ( Shūgiin ), the lower house of the National Assembly ( Kokkai ) .

Takagi studied from 1971 in the first year of the newly founded Sōka Daigaku , after graduating in 1975 she was a journalist for the newspaper Seikyō Shimbun, which is also affiliated with the Sōka Gakkai . In the Shūgiin election in 2003 she ran for proportional representation in Tokyo at number 2 on the Kōmeitō list and was elected, where she has since been re-elected five times in a row. In the House of Representatives, she was chairwoman of the special committee for youth issues from 2009 to 2010, and chairwoman of the committee for economy and industry in 2016 . From 2006 to 2007 ( Shinzō Abe I cabinet ) she was parliamentary state secretary ( daijinseimukan ) in the associated ministry . In 2017 she became State Secretary ( fuku-daijin ) in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MHLW) for the reorganized Abe third cabinet .
