Takahara Peichin ( Japanese 嵩 原 親 雲 上 ; * 1683 ; † 1760 ) came from Akata, Shuri (today: Naha ) in the Kingdom of Ryūkyū . He was an Okinawan martial arts master of the Tōde and Kobudo of the early days. He was taught the original art of Okinawan self-defense (Te) from Matsu Higa . One of his students was Sakugawa Kanga .

Peichin is not part of his real name, but rather indicates his position as a member of the warrior class in the Ryūkyū kingdom, similar to the Japanese samurai .
