The Takhti Stadium ( Persian ورزشگاه تختی) is a multifunctional stadium in eastern Tehran , Iran . Today it is mainly used for football matches despite the presence of athletics facilities and is the home stadium of Naft Tehran FC .
The stadium, which can hold up to 30,122 spectators, was opened in 1973 as the Farah Stadium . The construction was based on the design of the Munich Olympic Stadium . After an initial expansion in 2005, the stadium was extensively refurbished and renovated twice in 2006 and 2007. A new artificial turf and new seats were installed. In 2008, West Asian Cup games were held in the stadium. It was named after Gholamreza Takhti , a successful Iranian wrestler.
