Tactile communication

The tactile communication is a channel within the nonverbal communication . In science, tactile communication is used synonymously with haptic communication. Tactile communication is based on the sense of touch, haptic perception and sensations such as tickling, touch, movement, vibration, temperature, pressure and tension. The sensory information comes from the skin , but also from proprioception in joints.

For tactile communication, proximity is necessary so that touch and skin contact can take place at all. That is why smells , proximity-distance behavior ( proxemics ), but also the emotional relationship and social roles play an important role in tactile communication.
