The Takutu River Bridge , in Portuguese Ponte do Rio Tacutu (officially Ponte Prefeito Olavo Brasil Filho ), is a bridge over the Rio Tacutu that connects the South American states of Guyana and Brazil and the cities of Lethem in Guyana and Bonfim in the Brazilian city of Roraima . Construction of the bridge began in 2002 and construction work was completed in 2009. On July 31, 2009, the two-lane bridge was opened to car traffic. The official opening took place on September 14, 2009 in the presence of the heads of state Bharrat Jagdeo (Guyana) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil). The cost of the project was around US $ 5 million and was initially paid for by the state of Brazil.

A special feature of the bridge is the change from left-hand traffic (in Guyana) to right-hand traffic (in Brazil). The change takes place by means of a flyover structure directly in front of the bridge on the Guyanese side.
