The Rinsdorf viaduct was a motorway bridge between junctions 22 (“ Siegen -Süd”) and 23 (“Wilnsdorf”) of the A 45 . She crossed the Heckenbach above Rinsdorf , a district of Wilnsdorf . Completed in 1967, it was blown up on February 6, 2022.

Technical details

The bridge was 486 m long in the highway axis.

new building

Due to the growing traffic load and the advanced age of the bridge, it will be replaced as part of the expansion of the A45. The official start of construction was September 18, 2017. The planned construction period is five years. The new bridge will be 38.7 m wide and 71.9 m high (in the middle) in order to be able to carry six lanes plus two hard shoulders. The new length will be 485.5 m. The estimated cost of the new building is 76.8 million euros. After the new construction of the viaduct on the side ("first half" superstructure direction Dortmund - next to the old bridge that still existed at that time), traffic was diverted to this new one.

demolition of the old bridge

The old bridge was blown up on February 6, 2022. Space was created for the construction of the new superstructure (“second half”) in the direction of travel to Frankfurt.

According to the Autobahn GmbH , a motorway bridge this high has never before been blown up in Germany.
