The talibon is a Filipino sword.

history

The talibon was developed as a stabbing weapon by the Christianized inhabitants of the Philippines after colonization by the Europeans in the 16th century.

description

The talibon has a single-edged blade that is as wide at the handle as the handle itself. The blade becomes bulbous towards the point and tapers to a long point. The blade does not have a central ridge, but is slightly hollow below the back of the blade. The back of the blade is slightly curved downwards. The blade length is about 46 cm, about 4 cm thick, and has a total length of about 51 cm. The place (tip) is very long. The handle is made of horn or wood and has no guard. The pommel is pointed at the end and has wooden hooks on the right and left side. The handle and pommel are carved from one piece. The sheaths are made of leather and are bent to a point at the end. The handle and the scabbard are mostly decorated with traditional patterns.
