Talk Talk is a 2006 novel by the US writer TC Boyle that tells the story of a young deaf teacher who was the victim of identity theft . The book was translated into German by Dirk van Gunsteren .

The exciting narrative arc has traits of a thriller . Both the characterization of the three main characters and the description of the American legal system are impressive.

action

The deaf Dr. Dana Halter teaches literature at a college for the deaf in California . On the way to college, she is arrested by the police who charge her with a variety of serious crimes , from car theft to drug abuse. After a few days, it turns out that Dana has been the victim of a scammer who uses her identity. Since the official authorities do not help her, she and her friend Bridger Martin , a young computer specialist, go on a search for the fraudster. Peck Wilson is an unsympathetic impostor who uses the possibilities of the modern information and consumer society for his own ends.

The novel is told alternately from the perspectives of the three main characters.
