The Najran Dam or Al-Madik Dam is located in Wadi Najran in the Najran Province , Saudi Arabia . The city of Najran is located approximately 15 km northeast of the dam.
The dam was completed in 1982 (1400 according to the Islamic calendar ). In addition to flood protection, it also serves to fill a groundwater reservoir. It is owned by the Ministry of Water and Electricity (MOWE) and is also operated by MOWE.
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is a concrete arch dam with a height of 73 m above the foundation base . The volume of the dam is 110,000 m³. The dam wall has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 8,200 m³ / s can be discharged via the flood relief.
Reservoir
When the reservoir is fully blocked, it will hold around 86 million m³ of water.
