Tampere Club
The Tampere Club is an interdisciplinary and international scientific organization for the promotion, discussion and dissemination of democracy research . It was founded in 2001 by the City of Tampere ( Finland ) and other public and private Finnish sponsors.
membership
Members are legal and political scientists, economists, sociologists, philosophers, historians and communication scientists. Membership is acquired at the invitation of the Tampere Club Organizing Committee.

- President: Ernesto Garzón Valdés (Argentine-German legal philosopher),
- Secretary General: Aulis Aarnio (Finnish legal theorist),
- Honorary President: James M. Buchanan (US economist); The first honorary president was the Finnish logician and philosopher Georg Henrik von Wright, who died in 2003 .
activities
Every autumn in Tampere, the Tampere Club organizes a scientific conference on a democracy-related topic as well as a public Tampere Lecture , organizes lectures and seminars by members of the Tampere Club at Finnish universities (Tampere, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Rovaniemi, Turku ...) and academic Institutions (Helsinki Collegium, Tampere Forum ...) and publishes a series of books ( The Tampere Club Series , since 2005 with Tampere University Press).
