Tamponade
In medicine, a tamponade refers to the filling of natural or artificial cavities or openings with a tampon ( French: 'plug', 'bausch', 'plug' ), mostly made of bandage material ( gauze ). This is mostly used to stop bleeding . The filler is also called a tamponade.
Filling a body cavity with blood or blood clots is also referred to with this term.

- Accumulation of fluid or blood in the pericardial cavity
- Bladder tamponade
- Filling of the urinary bladder with blood clots resulting in urinary retention

- Filling in the cavity left behind after the operation
