Jouni Kannisto

Jouni "Tane" Kannisto (born December 13, 1963 ) is a Finnish jazz saxophonist and flutist.

Kannisto started playing the guitar at the age of twelve. He later bought a tenor horn and became a member of a brass band. At the age of fourteen he switched to the tenor saxophone and already played regularly in a dance band the following year. He started playing the flute during high school and became a flutist in the Turku Big Band .

In 1982 he began to study at the Turku Conservatory, through which he met Edward Vesala in 1985 . In 1987 he became a member of his band Sound & Fury . He played on three of their albums ( Ode to the Death of Jazz , Invisible Storm and Nordic Gallery ) and took part in the band's tours of Europe and Great Britain (1993) and Japan, Taiwan and South Korea (1997).

In addition, Kannisto was saxophonist in the Finnish-Norwegian band Rollin 'Thunder by Jorma Tapio and worked with guitarist Niklas Winter . As a member of his quartet (alongside Severi Pyysalo and Matti Moilanen ) he recorded the album Piae Cantiones in 2002 .
