Tahmoh Penikett (born May 20, 1975 in Whitehorse , Yukon ) is a Canadian actor.

Life

Family and education

His British father Tony Penikett was Prime Minister of the Canadian Territory of Yukon (1985-1992, New Democratic Party). His mother, Lulla Sierra Johns, belongs to the White River First Nation in the same territory. Peniquett's grandmother named him after a maternal uncle who was a hunter and trapper on the border between the Yukon and Alaska Territories. He has two sisters, twins Sarah and Stephanie. Penikett, like his sisters and father, lives in Vancouver , Canada.

Penikett is a graduate of Yukon College's Music, Art, and Performance Department (Music Art Drama Program). He later studied at the Victoria Film School in British Columbia and at Vancouver's Lyric Theater.

Penikett learned various martial arts in his youth. He started his training with judo and later switched to kickboxing. He has been training Muay Thai for years .

Career

He had his first film appearance in a scene with Kate Jackson in the film Race through the White Hell (Original title: The Cold Heart of a Killer ) from 1995. The film was shown on television in 1996. He also played the role of Det. Ray Chase in eleven episodes of Cold Squad , a Canadian police series, and in Smallville . He was also Lieutenant / Captain Karl C. Helo Agathon in the remake of the Battlestar Galactica series . He was seen as Paul Ballard in Joss Whedon's series Dollhouse .

He had minor appearances in The L Word , Stargate and James Cameron's Dark Angel . In addition, he was seen as a guest in the series Human Target in 2010. He also plays the role of Kurtis Stryker in the live action series Mortal Kombat Legacy , which has been shown since April 2011.

In 2006 he played the role of Darius in the racing game Need for Speed: Carbon .
