All About Tammy is a 2007 romantic Canadian comedy film directed by Tracy D. Smith .

action

The unruly, stubborn and indomitable Tammy moves into her parents' house because her father Burt is ill and in need of care. But that's only superficially. His favorite pastime is bullying his gay son and two daughters, Tammy and Christine . His latest idea is to run his illness forward to match up all of his children.

He goes into business with Tristan's friend, the bartender Lucas. He will accept him if he finds a husband for Tammy. He does the same with his business partner Damon, who will then be put in charge of the company. Luca's problem, however, is that every man runs away from Tammy. As attractive as it is, it is difficult to tame. Ex-boxer Sy is just right for him. He has recently tried his hand at singing, although he lacks the vocal prerequisites. He promises him a bar gig when he goes out with Tammy. Without knowing her, he goes into the deal.

As expected, she initially rejects him very harshly. But that makes Sy all the more ambitious. That in turn irritates Tammy, so that she gradually feels more and more attracted to him. The result is a true love-hate relationship that culminates in a kiss in the bathroom at home. They then go out together at Lucas' bar. There Damon, who is also gay , makes a scene to Tristan and reveals to Tammy that Sy is only dating her because of his songs. Deeply hurt, she leaves Sy standing.

But she also fell in love. At home she cries all the time until Sy unpacks his guitar in the front yard and sings for her. Her father wants to drive him away and knocks him down. Then Tammy runs to Sy and they kiss passionately.

criticism

"Solid (television) comedy in the wake of Shakespeare's" The Taming of the Shrew ", which is well entertaining even without a well-known actor."

"Shakespeare's" The Taming of the Shrew "in the cheerful, contemplative Canadian TV version. And because a box of relationships between rough-hewn macho and tough relationship refuser is not enough for 90 minutes, there is also a homosexual cockfight for father's beautiful Filius and the little drama about the patriarch's death. Pointed dialogues, good-humored actors and a refreshing pinch of Canadian permissiveness make the film worth seeing for more discerning comedy fans even without well-known stars. "
