Tanja Šmid (born April 29, 1990 in Kranj ) is a former Slovenian swimming athlete .

She won the silver medal in the 200 m breaststroke at the 2010 European Short Course Championships in Eindhoven . In 2012, Šmid took part in the Olympic Games in London, where she was eliminated in the run-up. At the 2013 Mediterranean Games , she won bronze in the relay. In February 2016, Šmid tested positive for GW1516 during a doping control and was banned for four years. She admitted the violation and ended her career.
