Freeride World Tour
As part of the Freeride World Tour , world championships for freeride skiers and snowboarders have been held annually since 2008 .
The Swiss Nicolas Hale-Woods is the founder and director of the tour, which runs five or six races each year from January to April at different locations in Europe and North America.

Verbier - April 1st
The final took place as part of the “Xtreme Verbier” on the northern slope of the Bec des Rosses in the Valais Alps . The best 13 skiers, seven snowboarders, seven skiers and five snowboarders took part. In the annual ranking, one strike result was required for each athlete , so that the best four results were used to determine the four world champions.

Trivia
- In 2010 Julia Mancuso , 2006 Olympic champion in giant slalom , started at the Xtreme Verbier and took third place.
- In 2015 Nicola Thost , Olympic champion in the halfpipe from 1998, won the final female snowboarder race in Verbier .
