Janina Kuzma (born September 17, 1985 in Brisbane ) is a New Zealand freestyle skier . She is a two-time Olympic athlete (2014, 2018) and starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Kuzma has been participating in the AFP World Tour competitions since 2009 . In August 2009 she won her first victory at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona . In 2011 she was third at the World Championships as part of the Freeride World Tour .

She made her debut in the World Cup in Cardrona in August 2012 and took fourth place. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 2013 in Voss , she achieved tenth place. The following year she was fifth in the first ever halfpipe competition in her first Olympic participation in Sochi .

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season she won the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona . In the further course of the season she won her first World Cup victory in Copper Mountain and took third place in the World Cup in Park City . She finished the season in second place in the Halfpipe World Cup and second in the AFP World Tour halfpipe rating. At the beginning of the following season she finished second at the World Cup in Cardrona and won the North Face Freeski Open in Cardrona . In the further course of the season she achieved third place at the US Grand Prix and World Cup in Mammoth and fourth place in the Halfpipe World Cup at the end of the season.

She finished fifth at the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen and seventh at the X Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo . The following year she came eighth at the Winter X Games 2017 and the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada .

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang (South Korea), the 32-year-old finished 16th in February.
