Tanja Schärer (born June 17, 1989 in Schlieren ) is a Swiss freestyle skier . She specializes in the aerials (jumping) discipline.

biography

Schärer that of professional medical practice assistant is, was, in her youth gymnast and decided as a 13-year-old for the freestyle ski jumping. Her first appearances in the European Cup were in the winter of 2004/05, and she was ninth at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Airolo . With three wins in the 2007/08 season, Schärer won the Aerials discipline of the European Cup. On March 7, 2008, she made her debut in the Freestyle World Cup and jumped to eleventh place in Davos .

Schärer established itself close to the top of the world and achieved top 10 placings in the World Cup for the first time in winter 2009/10, qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her best result this winter was a fifth place, also in the following season 2010/11. With second place in Minsk on February 25, 2012, she achieved her first World Cup podium. In the 2012/13 World Cup season she was third twice.
