Tanjung Pelepas

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is a container port at the eastern mouth of the Pulai River in south-west Johor , Malaysia , just north of Singapore .

Construction, handling, capacity

The port was opened on October 10, 1999. The handling of containers reached one million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) within 571 days . The growth continued and already in 2001 over 2 million TEU and in 2004 over 4 million TEU were handled. In 2006 it was 4.7 million TEU.

The terminal is 30% owned by Maersk Line via its holding, Seaport Terminal. In 2002 Evergreen Marine Corporation also moved to Pelepas.

In 2007 the port had ten berths with a quay length of 3.6 km and a storage capacity of 150,000 TEU and 27 Super Post Panamax cranes. The port capacity is currently 6 million TEU per year.

In 2017, 8.33 million TEU were handled.
