Tanzbär (jukebox)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dancing bear is a mechanical music machine in the form of a self-playing accordion with purely mechanical scanning of the piano roll .

nature

The piano roll is not operated by a winding spring mechanism, as is the case with the Hohner Magic Organa , but a flywheel is set in motion via the lever next to the dummy keyboard and enables the relatively precise timing of the scanning of the perforated tape roll.

Manufacturer

The original of the rare mechanical musical instrument was manufactured by the A. Zuleger company in Leipzig in the 1920s.

With the name Tanzbär , accordions are still made today as jukeboxes, but they mostly use electronic memory cards for control instead of piano rolls . They are built with different techniques by some manufacturers such as Blüml, Hofbauer and Watterott (Thuringian musicians forge).
