Bravery Medal (Saxony-Altenburg)

The bravery medal was donated on February 20, 1915 by Duke Ernst II of Sachsen-Altenburg for men and officers who belong to the 8th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 153 or who are citizens of the duchy in other units or in the imperial navy have distinguished themselves by special bravery.

The condition for the award was the possession of the Iron Cross 2nd class.

The front of the medal shows a paw cross with the Saxon coat of arms enthroned in the middle. In the upper cross arm the ducal crown and in the left and right the year 19 14 separately . The back shows the ornate signature E II. Under a floating crown.

The award was worn on a grass-green ribbon with a white central and two white edge stripes on the left chest.
