The Tarrabool Lake is a lake on the western edge of the Barkly Tablelands in the Northern Territory of Australia . Its size fluctuates depending on the amount of rainfall the handling. There are several rivers that feed the lake, but the most important is Creswell Creek , which flows into the lake to the northeast. When the lake is full, it is the largest forested swamp in tropical Australia. It is a main breeding area for colony-forming waterfowl, especially spectacled pelicans and prickly bites . The lake is part of the Tarrabool Lake - Eva Downs Swamp System , an Important Bird Area designated by the world umbrella organization of bird protection organizations BirdLife International because of its importance as a breeding area .
