Renate Bänsch (after marriage to Renate Doberschütz ; born January 21, 1956 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1974 she was runner-up in the two-man world championship without a helmsman .

Renate Bänsch was discovered by her math teacher for rowing at the age of 12 and began her career at BSG Rot-Weiß Naumburg . In 1972 she moved to SC DHfK Leipzig . At the GDR championships in 1974, she won the championship title together with Bergit Heinze in a pair without a helmsman.

In 1974 women's boats competed in a world championship for the first time at the world championships in Lucerne . Renate Bänsch and Bergit Heinze were behind the Romanians Marilena Ghita and Cornelia Neacșu, the first vice world champions in the boat class two without helmsman.

Renate Bänsch is the mother of 2 children - including the rower Johannes Doberschütz - and lives in Leipzig. She was married to the rower Jens Doberschütz .
