The Tarstaborg is a prehistoric Fornborg on the eponymous mountain between Sköllersta and Pålsboda in the municipality of Hallsberg in Närke in Sweden . It is Närke's largest and best preserved castle. It is located on a mountain that drops to the west.
The castle is surrounded by a stone wall about 310 meters long, well preserved in several places. Outside the stone wall, the remains of the castle are surrounded by two other walls. There is one entrance to Tarstaborg in the outer wall and four in the inner wall. Inside there is a terrace that was probably a building on. It is unclear what its function was.
There are 35 ramparts in the province of Örebro . In Sweden there are around 1000.
