The Tashkent University of Information Technologies (short TUIT ; Russian Ташкентский Университет Информационных Технологий ; Uzbek Toshkent Axborot Texnologiyalari Universiteti ) is an important university in the Uzbek capital Tashkent . She specializes in information technology and engineering courses . In addition to the main location in Tashkent, the university also operates a total of six smaller branches in the cities of Fergana , Urgensch , Qarshi , Samarkand and Nukus .

The university was founded in 1955, when Uzbekistan was part of the Soviet Union , as the Tashkentskij Elektrotechnitscheskij Institute Swjasi . In 1993 a special faculty was set up to train officers and military officials in technical areas.
Since a decree by the Uzbek President in 2002, the institute has been officially recognized as a university, and branches have been established in other Uzbek cities since 2005. Today, courses in computer science , information technology , electrical engineering and engineering are mainly offered, but economics can also be studied, for example . Lectures are mostly given in Russian and Uzbek. In addition to a center for Uzbek and Russian languages, the university also has a foreign language center where language courses for English, German or French can be taken.
