Tatras 803

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tatra 803 was the prototype of a light off-road vehicle ( Kübelwagens ) that the Tatra factory in Kopřivnice (German: Nesselsdorf) built in 1950.

The vehicle had the overhead , air-cooled eight-cylinder V-engine of the type 603 A with 2545 cm³ displacement and 75 HP (55 kW) power at 4200 / min. The engine drove all four wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a four-speed gearbox. The top speed was 103 km / h. With an empty weight of 1730 kg, the payload was 750 kg. Only two vehicles were made for testing purposes.

In 1951 a very similar vehicle appeared with the Tatra 804 , which, unlike its predecessor, had 200 mm less wheelbase and 65 mm less ground clearance. The vehicle took over the mechanics from its predecessor, but with an unladen weight of 1590 kg, it only had a payload of 400 kg. Only one piece of this car, which also had a speed of 103 km / h, was built.
