Tatyos Efendi
Kemani Tatyos Efendi ( Tatyos Enkserciyan , Tateos Eñserciyan , Armenian Թադեոս Էքսերճյան ; * 1855 in Istanbul ; † March 16, 1913 ibid) was an Ottoman composer, qanun and violin virtuoso.
The son of the Armenian church singer Manokyan Enkserciyan went to the apprenticeship of a locksmith and a silversmith after attending school. He learned to play qanun from an uncle , later he had violin lessons with Kemani Sebuh and studied music and singing with Civan Ağa and Asdik Ağa .
He became an important instrumental virtuoso, composer and poet, especially in the field of Fasil music . He gave numerous concerts at the Pirinççi Casino in Galata with musicians such as Karakaş, Ovakim and Şemsi and worked with Ahmed Rasim Bey , the brothers Civan and Andon, Şevki Bey , Kemençeci Vasilâki and Tanburî Cemil Bey .
In his final years he became addicted to alcohol and died of cirrhosis on March 16, 1913.
About sixty compositions by Tatyos have survived and form a basis for the development of modern Turkish music. He was also the teacher of musicians such as Arsak Çömlekçiyan , Münir Mazhar Kamsoy , Nasibin Mehmet Yürü , Mustafa Sunar and Abdülkadir Töre .
