Taubenturm (Treesbank House)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treesbank House pigeon tower is a pigeon tower near the Scottish town of Riccarton in the East Ayrshire council area . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

The brick building from 1771 is isolated around one kilometer southwest of Riccarton not far from the A77 . The lower part of the tower has an octagonal floor plan. It ends with a cornice with corbels . On top of it sits the round, upper part of the tower, which ends with a slate-covered bell roof . The entry openings for pigeons run around eaves height.

The tower is now used as a storage room. It has been on the Scottish Register of Listed Buildings at Risk since 2008. However, its condition was last described in 2010 as good with low risk. Initially, the entry referred to the moss growth on the northwest side and the poor condition of the door frame, which has meanwhile been closed with a wall. In 2010 there was a hole in the wall on the north side.
