Pigeon tower Salbke
The Taubenturm is a monument in the Salbke district of Magdeburg .
history
The exact time when the tower was built is unknown. It is assumed in part as early as the 17th or 18th century, other information is based on the 19th century. The building was built in the inner courtyard of the rectory (Greifenhagener Strasse No. 3) of the Protestant Sankt-Gertraud-Kirche . Presumably because of the lack of other financial support, the pastor at the time supplied himself with agricultural goods. The tower was renovated in 1981.
architecture
The octagonal tower is made of rubble and plastered. The roof, which is also octagonal, is pyramidal and covered with tiles. A ball serves as the spire.
