Taucheira (Ταύχειρα, also Teuchira , Τεύχειρα, or Tocra , later Arsinoe ) was an ancient Greek port city in Cyrenaica ; the present port city is in the Munizip al-Marsch , Libya .

Taucheira was probably around 625 BC. Founded. The city had an important Demeter sanctuary, in which a large number of imported ceramics from Greece were found during excavations. In the Hellenistic period the city was named Arsinoe and had the status of a colony under the Romans . The city ​​was fortified under Emperor Justinian .

The city was relatively small at around 500 × 500 m. She had a city map with streets intersecting at right angles.

A cemetery with numerous Jewish inscriptions was also found in Taucheira.
