Company history

founding

On January 8, 1929, the Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH was founded by Georg Pätzold and Jean Roth in the rooms of the former Taunus Hotel at Rheinstrasse 21. The name "Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH" was chosen based on the place where it was founded, the Taunus Hotel. At the same time, representation for the General Motors brand was taken over.

Taunus-Auto and Daimler-Benz

On September 15, 1932, Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH became the official contractual partner of Daimler-Benz AG.

1960 to 1970

The success of Mercedes-Benz products led to the expansion of Taunus-Auto. At the site in Mainzer Strasse , construction was continued in the early 1960s and 1970s with the construction of a spare parts warehouse, a paint shop with plumbing and an apprentice workshop, and the company was expanded. The already high demand for commercial vehicles at that time was taken care of by the construction of a corresponding specialized company in the Wiesbaden district of Schierstein in 1965. They specialize in the sale and repair of vans, trucks and buses to this day.

1973 to 1975

New construction of the seven-story administration building at Mainzer-Strasse 82–92, which is characteristic of Taunus-Auto.

1976 to 2000

Taunus-Auto was characterized by strong growth until the 1990s. In 1979 a company was built in Taunusstein , in 1986 a new training center was inaugurated, in 1996 the used vehicle passage in Mainzer Strasse was opened and in 1997 the Berninger workshop in Idstein was taken over. A milestone in the company's history was the entry of Daimler AG as a shareholder on July 1, 1995, which assumed overall entrepreneurial responsibility for Taunus-Auto when it took over its 50 percent stake. With the sale of shares by Georg and Günter Nicolaus Pätzold, Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH finally became a wholly-owned subsidiary of what was then DaimlerChrysler AG on January 1, 1999.

2000 to 2014

The early 2000s were marked by major investments due to Taunus-Auto's new ownership structure. After extensive renovation work to redesign and enlarge the exhibition area in Mainzer Strasse, the store was reopened in May 2003. According to the plans of the Wiesbaden architects Schön and Rückoldt, a glass atium was created which, in addition to its classic use as a new car showroom, is used from there for numerous cultural events such as concerts and parties. In 2006, smart Vertriebs GmbH started selling and servicing the small car on Mainzer Strasse, which officially handed over responsibility for the smart Center Wiesbaden to Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH on October 1, 2013.

Since 2015

As part of the realignment of the Group's own Mercedes-Benz sales department of Daimler AG through the sale of a total of 63 of the 158 branch locations, Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH and Christoph Jolas, Managing Director of KBM Motorfahrzeuge GmbH & Co. KG from Neuwied has a new owner and partner. With nine locations on the Middle Rhine and in southern Hesse, the KBM Group is one of the largest Mercedes representatives in Germany. On September 1, 2015, Wiesbaden-born Jochen Kreit was appointed managing director of Taunus-Auto-Vertriebs-GmbH.
