Taupo Maritime Radio / ZLM is a coastal radio station in New Zealand that is part of the New Zealand marine radio network and its marine radio service.

The transmission system of Taupo Maritime Radio / ZLM is located east of Lake Taupo , where the headquarters, from which the marine radio service is organized and operated, is located in the Avalon district of the city of Lower Hutt , in the south of the North Island .

Marine radio network

In addition to the Taupo Maritime Radio Station , which transmits in the HF (short wave) and MF (medium wave) range, the New Zealand maritime radio network consists of 14 transmission stations that are spread across the North Island, 14 transmission stations that cover the coastal area of ​​the South Island and two stations located on the Chatham Islands , all of which transmit in the VHF (ultra-short wave (VHF)) range.

Taupo Maritime Radio / ZLM does not send any NAVTEX warning messages for the NAVAREA XIV . The voice service and spoken weather reports are processed at fixed times. The SAR service is always ready to listen. The NAVAREA XIV region is covered by the New Zealand Distress and Safety Radio Service . It covers 12.5 percent of the world's oceans.

The RF frequencies are also used by the Rescue Coordination Center of New Zealand (RCCNZ).
