Exchange ticket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tauschticket is a commercial German Internet swap exchange . All kinds of articles can be exchanged there. The operator is Internext GmbH in Karlsruhe.

history

Tauschticket was founded in September 2004 by Karlsruher Internext GmbH under the name of Buchticket as a free exchange platform for books and audio books . In July 2005 the platform was expanded to include the categories “Films”, “Music” and “PC / Games”. However, this was called an exchange ticket. Book ticket was still only for books and audio books.

Until November 2006 the principle was “1 article = 1 ticket”, with the only exception being allowed to offer several articles for one ticket. The exchange tickets were also divided into four product categories, so that, for example, only one book could be requested for a ticket received in the books section. In October 2006 the cross-category exchange of tickets was made possible. Since then, the exchange has been called swap ticket. On November 20, 2006 the validity of the tickets was extended to all categories. Since then it has also been allowed to offer articles for up to 5 tickets.

In March 2008, the exchange of board and parlor games was made possible; since July 1st, 2009 articles of all kinds can be offered.

As of December 2008 there were over 118,000 registered members. After the end of the market launch, the platform became chargeable from October 4, 2010 (the general terms and conditions have contained a fee reservation since it was founded). The announcement aroused the displeasure of many users. Of the around 1.9 million articles on offer, books continue to represent the largest segment with around 1.4 million offers (as of May 2011).

Two FAQ manuals emerged from the forum of the exchange platform .

Since 2014, articles can be offered for up to 20 tickets, from six tickets these must be sent in a traceable manner.

functionality

Every new user must first offer their own articles, the value of which they determine between one and twenty exchange tickets. The duration of the offers is unlimited. If one of the items offered is requested, the user receives the requested amount of virtual exchange tickets from the requester in return . For this, the user can then request any article from other providers.

Depending on the number of tickets used, a fee of 0.49 to 1.99 euros is due to the operator Internext GmbH for each exchange. The credit for exchange fees can be increased with a deposit of 5, 10, 20 or 50 euros. a. can be charged by credit card, instant transfer and PayPal . Any top-up amounts greater than 5.00 euros can be made by bank transfer. At the end of the contract, the remaining credit can be paid out without paying a flat-rate fee.

A stored database (based on the Amazon database until January 31, 2018 ) serves as an input aid when offering articles , so that when offering common titles, often only the ISBN or EAN from which the most important product data (author / artist , Title, year of publication etc.) can be generated automatically. A link to the product on Amazon was then displayed on these offer pages by January 31, 2018. According to the operator (notification in the exchange forum on January 31, 2018), the database collaboration with Amazon has now been terminated for licensing reasons. However, it is also possible to offer without ISBN / EAN or to change suggested database articles in order to adapt them to your own article.

The reliability of the members of the exchange platform is ensured by a rating system. Anyone who requests an article can rate the exchange partner who is obliged to send the article after confirming the request on a scale from zero to five stars. Five stars mean that the exchange or the requested item fully met expectations. Zero stars mean that the exchange did not take place. After examining the incident, the platform operators will refund the ticket after 0-star ratings and reserve the right to exclude the member in question if there are multiple zero-star ratings.

The shipping costs are always borne by the sender, so that making a profit through excessive shipping costs is excluded.

An exchange must be confirmed within seven days, otherwise the exchange will be noted as "failed" with the negative rating "zero stars" in the provider's profile.

As a bonus, new members receive a bonus ticket after SMS validation (according to the provider information to avoid misuse and double registrations) for offering at least five items.

Demarcation

In contrast to the understanding of exchange in CD or bookcrossing , the purchased items become the property of the person making the request, who can dispose of them at their own discretion (keep, give away, throw away, donate, exchange). There is no obligation to return or exchange an exchanged item.
