Taxem
The taxeme playing on grammatical role level that the phoneme in the lexicon holds. Taxemes are the smallest grammatical form elements that (analogous to the phoneme) themselves are not meaningful. The term goes back to the American linguist Leonard Bloomfield (1933). The phrase "Run!" has two taxemes on (a) the segment run and b) the specific information, which is graphically symbolized by the exclamation mark.
