Taxodiaceae
The division of living beings into systematics is a continuous subject of research. Different systematic classifications exist side by side and one after the other. The taxon treated here has become obsolete due to new research or is not part of the group systematics presented in the German-language Wikipedia.
Taxodiaceae refers to a plant family that is no longer up-to-date according to the current state of research , which is composed of the following 10 genera of conifers :
- Athrotaxis
- Cryptomeria
- Cunninghamia
- † Cunninghamites
- Glyptostrobus
- Metasequoia
- Sciadopitys
- Sequoia
- Sequoiadendron
- Taiwan
- Taxodium
With the exception of Sciadopitys , which according to genetic criteria belongs to a separate family Sciadopityaceae , these genera are included in the family Cupressaceae .

The genera of the former Taxodiaceae family are now sorted into the following subfamilies within the Cupressaceae:
- Athrotaxidoideae Quinn: Athrotaxis
- Cunninghamioideae (Sieb. & Zucc.) Quinn: Cunninghamia
- Sequoioideae (Luerss.) Quinn: Sequoia , Sequoiadendron , Metasequoia
- Taiwanioideae (Hayata) Quinn: Taiwania
- Taxodioideae Endl. ex K. Koch: Taxodium , Glyptostrobus , Cryptomeria

Fossils from taxa assigned to the group include: a. known from the tertiary .
