Tayto Limited is an Irish manufacturer of snack foods such as popcorn and potato chips , whose products are also mainly distributed in the Republic of Ireland. Tayto's headquarters and manufacturing facilities were in Coolock , County Dublin until September 2005 , when Largo Foods , based in Ashbourne , was commissioned to manufacture it. In July 2006, Tayto was finally bought by Largo Foods.

Tayto is credited with developing the "Cheese and Onion" - that is, cheese and onion flavor for potato chips - back in 1954. The long-standing market presence has led to the fact that "Tayto" is used as a synonym for potato chips in general in the slang vocabulary of the Irish rural population in particular. Tayto products are also popular import items for emigrants of Irish descent worldwide.

The company is not to be confused with a Northern Irish company of the same name and branch, which was founded in 1956 with production techniques and license from the Irish Tayto. This is called Tayto (NI) Ltd. and sells their products in the UK and other countries.

Tayto Park

In November 2010 Tayto opened the family park "Tayto Park" right next to the main plant in Ashbourne, Ireland. The amusement park has various playgrounds, climbing frames and family attractions. A guided tour through the plant is also offered. For the 2015 season the park is planning a record wooden roller coaster with inversions, which will be a European novelty.
