Teatro Nacional de Cuba ( German  National Theater of Cuba ) is a modern building on Plaza de la Revolución in Havana , Cuba .

Work on the building began in 1951. It opened in 1960 and, after its complete restoration, reopened in 1979 for a gala for delegations to a summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement .

It is one of the most important cultural places in Havana. It promotes dance, theater for adults and children, music and visual arts. The Teatro Nacional with two large concert halls, Avellaneda, with 2500 seats and Covarrubias for 800 and the Café Cantante for 240 people is one of the largest theaters in the city. The building is surrounded by gardens with ponds, winding paths and sculptures by Cuban artists.

The largest room was named after Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda , the smallest after the Cuban actor Francisco Covarrubias (1775-1850).
