The Tecan Group AG is an internationally active Swiss Lab equipment maker. The group of companies specializes in the development, manufacture and sale of automation solutions for laboratories in the life science sector for the biopharmaceutical , forensic and clinical diagnostics industries.

history
Tecan was founded in 1980. The IPO in 1987 enabled the company to make several acquisitions and expand internationally. At the end of 1988 the Tecan Group already had 29 companies. The overly aggressive takeover strategy brought the company into financial difficulties in 1989, so that in 1990 a capital increase and a reorganization of the business activities became necessary. The realignment that began in the mid-1990s helped the company to become one of the world's leading providers of laboratory instruments.
