Technical fireworks

Technical fireworks is the name for pyrotechnic objects that are intended for the creation of show effects , as well as for other technical applications, such as in model making , in airbags and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners , or for the generation of warning and emergency signals . In Germany they are divided into the categories T1 / P1 and T2 / P2.

Technical fireworks available in Germany must go through a conformity verification procedure and have a CE mark . In addition, it must have an identification number, which is assigned by BAM . In a transition phase until July 3, 2017, objects with the outdated approval in class T1 / T2 could also be purchased and used.

In Germany there are categories T1 and T2 for stage or theater pyrotechnics and categories P1 and P2 for other technical purposes. Technical fireworks of the category T1 and P1 may be purchased all year round in Germany from the age of 18. Appropriate approval from the competent authority is usually required for use (see Section 23 (3) 1st SprengV). For technical fireworks of category T2 / P2, a permit according to §7 is required for purchase in the commercial area and a permit according to §27 SprengG is required for the non-commercial area. The maximum net explosive mass for articles of category T1 is 500 g.
