Technoexport was founded in 1953 as a national Czechoslawak export company for industrial equipment. It is a Safichem Group company .

Today the company is mainly active in Iraq and Syria . It was heavily involved in Iraq from 1957 until the embargo in 1990. The oil refineries of Homs in Syria, Basra and Baiji (Salahuddin) in Iraq were built by Technoexport. In addition, a large phosphate deposit was discovered near Akashat in Iraq.
